Teams

Drill Team

Cadets of all levels of drill are invited to join the drill team. The competition consists of the compulsory routine and the precision routine. The cadets work together during weekly practices to improve their drill and work together as a team to ensure that the team’s drill is up to par. The drill team is where the cadets learn the foundations of military showmanship, while also learning enhanced levels of discipline, teamwork, and leadership.

Marching Band

Cadets of all musical backgrounds or cadets who are interested in learning a new instrument are welcome to join. The cadet must play or be willing to play an instrument that is compatible with the marching band. The band will be practicing all types of repertoire in preparation for the band competition in the spring. A precision drill routine will also be practiced in conjunction with prepared pieces.

Sports Team

Cadets who are interested in participating in various sports competitions must attend practices held by the sports team. Inter-unit competitions include ultimate frisbee, volleyball, basketball, and/or dodgeball. Also a great time for cadets who are just interested in playing sports with their peers!

Marksmanship Team

A trained Range Safety Officer (RSO) will closely supervise cadets participating in the marksmanship team during all practices. The cadets will refine their marksman skills using the Daisy Air Rifle; the skills that are of focus are safety when operating the rifle, safety on the range, accuracy, and proper use of the rifle. Cadets will participate in a competition in the spring.

First Aid

All cadets will receive training in life-saving skills under the St John Ambulance curriculum. Drills and different medical scenarios will be practiced weekly. There are 2 teams that will be competing against teams within the Vancouver-Fraser River Zone at the annual competition: Junior (12 to 14) and Senior (15-18). Cadets competing may receive certification in Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED.
